Many people have trouble understanding exactly what ‘guerrilla marketing’ is. In the most basic sense, it’s a creative departure from traditional advertising such as TV, radio or print ads.
If you break it down, ‘guerrilla’ refers to actions performed in an impromptu way, often without authorization. In ‘guerrilla marketing’, the marketing activities aren’t exactly impromptu, but they are certainly nontraditional! They’re designed to surprise and delight consumers in an unexpected and memorable way.
New York advertising giant BBDO just deployed a fun and creative guerrilla marketing campaign for their client Snickers.
In a continuation of Snickers’ “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign, BBDO found funny mistakes all around New York City and slapped a Snickers-branded “You Make Mistakes When You’re Hungry” sticker beside them.
Like any good integrated marketing campaign, Snickers also encouraged fans to share #hungrymistakes they had found or made on social media.
