What happens when a group of entrepreneurs find out 10,000 kids go hungry every week? They come together to change the lives of those hungry children.
By creating the 10 000 Kids Project, the group of seven entrepreneurs are providing Calgary kids with the food they need, allowing them to focus on learning instead of on their rumbling stomachs. Funds are raised through various initiatives, with this year’s main fundraiser being a prestigious Culinary Gala evening on May 14th.
The red carpet affair will attract local celebrities and other prominent Calgarians, who will join The Food Network’s Chef David Adjey for the unforgettable evening at the Sirocco Golf Club’s ‘Siraia’, one of Calgary’s finest restaurants. World-renowned Chef Adjey has been personal chef to actor Dan Akroyd and has also appeared on the Jay Leno Show. A highly sought after restaurant consultant, Chef Adjey has become a chef-expert for the Food Network on popular television programs like Restaurant Makeover and The Opener. Known for his tough love and unorthodox methods, it’s sure to be an entertaining evening!
Each year the 10 000 Kids Project chooses a cause that will improve the lives of 10 000 Calgary children. This year the group is focusing on hunger in school children and will be donating proceeds from the gala to Brown Bagging it for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK). Next year, the 10 000 Kids Project may focus on food, literacy, shelter or various other necessary causes.
A live auction will end the evening and guests will the chance to take home some high-ticket items and experiential packages. Plus, those unable to attend the event will still be able to take part in the auction by bidding online. The Online Auction will appear on the 10 000 Kids Project website for the week prior to the event.
