For many Vancouverites, this year’s 125th anniversary celebration has been made to feel particularly special by the activities and events hosted by the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival. This is certainly the way the kfm team felt a couple weeks ago when the blooms outside our office arrived, and knew spring was here.
Founder and Director of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, Linda Poole, has built the Cherry Blossom Festival into an inspiring and meaningful way to appreciate the unique natural settings in Vancouver. With this year being the 125th anniversary, the Festival stepped up to include new activities, including an extraordinary performance this Saturday – Cherry Jubilee with VIOLINPOWER.
For those of you that have not yet heard of Toni Stanick’s VIOLINPOWER; the string orchestra is made up of incredibly gifted students and emerging young professionals, with the youngest member being 11 years old. It feels like a gift to hear the group.
Toni Stanick has written the beautiful music behind ‘Blossom’, which will be played by the dazzling VIOLINPOWER orchestra. The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival (VCBF) has commissioned this new musical piece to commemorate Vancouver’s special 125th birthday. ‘Blossom’ is a gift from the VCBF to the City of Vancouver.
Inspired by the cherry blossom, written by Toni Stanick for string orchestra and performed by the dazzling VIOLINPOWER orchestra, “Blossom” takes us on a journey of light and life, from the gently wafting blossoms to the budding of new blooms, come be enchanted and swept away by the blossom and the beauty.
Toni is a core member of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Jonathan Darlington and is an extra violinist with the Vancouver Symphony. In the recording studio, she works in film and television, and has recorded for John Denver, Bryan Adams, and Michael Buble as well as performed live shows with artists including Smokey Robinson, David Foster, Josh Grobin, Il Divo, and Pavarotti. In short, she’s amazing – and the performance this Saturday is one not to miss.
